Acupuncture has been around for thousands of years for a reason: it's natural, it's holistic, and it can work to alleviate pain and maladies resulting from a number of conditions. It's also readily available to the East Orange, Ironbound and Irvington communities at Newark Pain and Rehab. Our chiropractic center's entire tenet of care is based on natural, non-surgical techniques that restore the body to its healthiest state and help it heal naturally. This means acupuncture is definitely on our list.
The treatment consists of our acupuncturist delicately inserting needles into the skin at different points around the body, based on the condition being treated. The procedure has been successful for treating overall and low back pain, arm pain, leg pain, migraines and headaches, osteoarthritis, and sports injuries such as tennis elbow. Dental pain can also be treated with the method, especially lingering pain following an invasive dental procedure, as can menstrual cramps. Our chiropractor begins each visit with an assessment, examination and evaluation to determine if the procedure would most effectively and efficiently treat your specific condition.
With origins in China, the procedure is based on the theory of relief by restoring your body's energy flow, also known as the life force or chi. When the energy flow is blocked, as is the case with an injury, tension, misalignment or other condition, pain and discomfort can result. The needles are placed at blockage points around the body to reestablish your body's vital energy flow and therefore restore your body's energy balance.
In addition to restoring your body's energy balance, the procedure stimulates your body's nerves, muscles and connective tissues. This not only increases your blood flow but also enhances the activity of your body's natural painkillers.
If this specific procedure is not for you, our chiropractor has experience with a host of other natural chiropractic techniques to alleviate pain, improve mobility and function, and restore your body to its optimum state.
